I would go a step further and say that not everything the IC is doing today needs to be done, or at least needs to be done by the IC. In a time of fiscal austerity we have a rare opportunity to identify those tertiary missions that are best left to private (.coms, .edus) organizations. Shaking off legacy missions that only exist because “that’s what we’ve always done” are so much easier to swallow when it’s a budget axe that is swinging, not some kind of “reform” effort (hey, whatever helps you sleep at night).
Now, we wait…
